16 Horsepower "Black Soul Choir" & "American Wheeze" (Videos)

I caught 16 Horsepower on an absolutely freezing night in Boston in the mid-90's. The temperature outside couldn't have been more fitting for this act. I remember finding their performance to be chilling in many senses: the religious themes, the appalachian currents, the feeling that I was listening to music from another time and place. Whatever the full summation, it was quite the memorable show. And I've now spent about five years searching for the t-shirt I bought that night. There's simply no way I tossed it.

In a few weeks, I'll catch David Eugene Edwards' new band, Woven Hand, here in San Francisco.
